Why you NEED to attend The March 15th Preservation Commission Vote
PLUMMER PARK THEMATIC DISTRICT MEETING REMINDER: BE HEARD!
When: March 15th
Where: Plummer Park Community Center, Room #5
WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?: The City of West Hollywood proposes to adopt a “thematic district” aka historic district on homeowners within area bounded by Genesee/Gardner and Hampton/Norton called the “Early 20th Century Residential Thematic District”.
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?:
- The adoption of the proposed Thematic District could significantly affect your property rights, including your ability to remodel, repair or add additions to your house. Any exterior remodeling plans will be subject to review and approval of the Historic Preservation Commission. Plans may be denied if they impose on the character of the landmarked “cultural resource” properties.
- Your ability to sell your property to any kind of developer will be significantly impacted by the Thematic District! This includes, house flippers, and builders of single family homes.
- Remodeling plans will likely be further delayed while waiting for approval from the 7 member committee.
- Your property value may depreciate due to the the many neighborhood buildings in disrepair which are pending landmark status. It may also depreciate due to the hassle of the additional permit approval process.
